2023 Year-End Update

Donors and Prayer Partners of Calvary Road Ministries:

Here is a summary of how God used you in 2023 to train, equip, and help in a multitude of ways, our field partners who are serving Jesus in hard places. Because of you:

  • 1,100 story cloths were delivered to national partners in Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda, and Sudan.
  • 2,900 full Bibles were provided to believers in Sudan, Tanzania, Kenya, and South Africa.
  • 800 solar powered MP3 players were distributed in Tanzania and Sudan.
  • 20 projectors were supplied to evangelists in Tanzania, Kenya, and Sudan.
  • 2,300 micro-SD cards were supplied to partners in Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, and India.
  • CRM enabled the recording of the 42 stories of the first story cloth in three new languages: Malayalam, Tamil, and Swahili.
  • Two brick making machines were purchased for Maasai Baptists of Tanzania, which will be used make bricks to build new churches and sell to help with self-sustainment.
  • CRM purchased two acres of land in Arua, Uganda to enable the Christian refugee community to farm and have a space for carrying out projects.
  • CRM evacuated approximately 450 Christian families from war zones within Darfur to places considered safer at the time. This was the major expense during the year. The Sudanese involved reported that they believe countless lives were saved, and the women involved spared from being raped. The Shai Fund graciously partnered with CRM, providing a $10,000 grant to help with this ministry.
  • CRM provided funding to Sudanese believers trapped in war zones, so they could buy food, and phone credit to communicate with the outside world.
  • CRM ministered to the humanitarian needs of the refugees who fled Darfur for northern Uganda—including renting and outfitting two houses; providing clothing, food, medical care, school fees for children, and water filters; building a roof for the community under which they held worship services; and providing funds for a Christmas celebration.
  • CRM supported a ministry center in El Fasher, North Darfur State, from January 1 to April 14, when the Sudanese civil war began. This ministry center supported a Bible school and multiple evangelism teams.
  • CRM funded food aid for Kenyan Maasai during the drought that affected all East Africa.
  • CRM sponsored six South Sudanese and one Sudanese church leader in Bible schools.
  • CRM completed the work of building a classroom for the Bible school in Tanzania, and outfitted the school office with a copier, laptop computers, and other supplies.
  • Three CRM-sponsored short-term bush evangelism teams saw almost 2,500 Maasai pray to receive Jesus.
  • CRM conducted a story cloth training event in Handeni, Tanzania, at which 45 Maasai men and women, along with several MBBs from western Tanzania, were trained.
  • CRM purchased two pairs of shoes, tee shirts, and other resources for 126 children at the Oloika Children’s Home in southern Kenya.
  • CRM purchased land for a church in the Torit, South Sudan area.
  • CRM built an office in Juba, South Sudan for the Baptist Convention of South Sudan.
  • CRM sponsored a Christmas soccer tournament in Maridi, South Sudan.
  • CRM supported six national church leaders in India, Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, paying their house rent, children’s school fees, and medical bills.
  • CRM conducted a story cloth training event for Scripture Union leaders in Zambia. The participants, in turn, are training public school teachers throughout the country.
  • CRM financed a large outreach initiative in the Kasama, Zambia region to members of a local cult, resulting in over 150 people receiving Jesus.
  • CRM celebrated its 25th anniversary in March in Knoxville, Tennessee, with a large banquet.

On behalf of our Board, I want to thank each of you who has prayed, donated, and volunteered for one of our teams. Our God has been glorified and the name of Jesus exalted. Only our Lord knows just how many souls will be in heaven for all eternity because of what happened this year. We are excited to see how the Lord will work through CRM during the next twenty-five years.

Have a blessed Christmas holiday season,

David Crane, President
