But Jesus said, ‘You feed them.’ ‘But we have only five loaves of bread and two fish,’ they answered. ‘Are you expecting us to go and buy enough food for this whole crowd?'”
LUKE 9:13 (NLT)
The mission of CRM is to empower Gospel movements among least reached people groups. At times this goal seems overwhelming—especially when we are tempted to view the Lord’s commands through the lens of our own natural abilities. When Jesus said to His disciples “you feed them,” he already knew what He intended to do. He just wanted to test the faith of His followers. The five loaves and two fish placed into the Master’s hands turned into so much more.
In this newsletter, I want to remind you that the Master is still taking what His trustworthy followers have to offer and producing more with it than they could think or imagine.
Bibles for Darfur
A church leader in Jebel Marra, Darfur, who recently received one of the Bibles delivered in April, shared the Gospel with his uncle, a devout Muslim. Their conversation had a rocky start as all the uncle wanted to do was call him an infidel. However, the leader kept quoting to his beloved uncle scripture passages he had memorized as he listened to the New Testament loaded on to a CRM supplied MP3 player.
The uncle ultimately prayed to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior and offered his home as a gathering place for believers in his area. The leader summarized his report by saying “now that I have a Bible, I am not limited to quoting the verses I have memorized. I can lead people from page to page in the Word of God. We are ready now to fight the fight. I pray that God will provide Bibles for all believers in our region.”
Food Relief for Refugees of the Wedweil Camp
Because you gave to CRM, we recently sent Alamadin to the Wedweil Refugee Camp in northwest South Sudan near the Sudanese border. While there, he met with believers and laid the foundation for future ministry opportunities.
Thereafter, CRM submitted a grant application to Send Relief using the data Alamadin collected. The grant application was funded. Now Alamadin is back in the camp, carrying out the first of three food distributions that will feed 300 families for a month. He also took with him many CRM donated resources, such as projectors and MP3 players loaded with scripture that will enable believers to share the Word on a swift and wide basis with all the camp’s inhabitants.
When you sit down to write a check to CRM, or donate online, it is not possible to imagine how the Lord is going to honor and multiply that gift. But He will. Because you give, thousands of people in a hot and dusty encampment in a desolate corner of South Sudan will hear the Gospel for the first time. “You give them something to eat.”
May the lesson of the five loaves and two fish challenge us to keep placing in the Master’s hands gifts that He can—and will—honor and multiply.
