John 20:19 “On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them…”
On the day Jesus arose from the dead, the Apostles and other disciples were confused and afraid. They felt abandoned. They were controlled by what their culture and personal experience dictated: people do not rise from the dead! They missed the fact that Jesus’ resurrection fulfilled God’s historic salvation narrative, which begins with Moses and runs through the prophets.
If we are not careful, we could also miss out on how God is fulfilling His plan today. Take Sudan for example. If we only read what the major news outlets report about the war in Sudan, we could conclude that God has abandoned Sudan. But nothing could be further from the truth.
Within a context of violence and suffering, our sovereign Lord is raising up an army of Jesus-followers who are committed to winning their country for Christ. News of this movement isn’t found in the media. But trust me, it’s happening.
Your donations to CRM enable us to empower this emerging movement. We do this in multiple ways. We help Sudanese believers understand and teach God’s historic salvation narrative using the Creation to Christ and Acts Story Cloths. We provide God’s Word in hardcopy and digital formats. We provide humanitarian assistance to the displaced, thereby showing the love of Christ. And we provide resources like solar-powered projectors, SD cards, and MP3 players that enable them to share God’s Word in some of the remotest and dangerous areas on earth.
Recently, in early May, a CRM volunteer mission team traveled to northwest Uganda to train and equip 70 Sudanese refugees. The women were trained to teach the Creation to Christ Story Cloth. The men were taught Galatians by Pastor Austin Rammell of Venture Church in Dallas, North Carolina. Team members also provided trauma counseling and transported hard copy and digital evangelism resources that will ultimately be transported to Darfur.
CRM is uniquely positioned to empower Sudanese believers through the relationships and supply chains into Darfur developed by our boots-on-the-ground partners. God has raised up the right people for this unique moment in history. They are not confused or fearful. Will you stand with them?
With deep appreciation,
