Helping Sudan’s Oppressed Women and Children
Matthew 12:48-50 “But Jesus answered…’Who is My mother and who are my brothers?’ And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, ‘Here are My mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.’” (NKJV)
The elderly lady pictured here recently received food through CRM’s ongoing Darfur food aid project. She has seven children, most of whom live outside Sudan. When she became a believer in 2022, her children stopped supporting her because she refused to deny Jesus.
She told her children “I have confidence Jesus will care for me.” She told the CRM-sponsored local church leader who gave her a food allotment “now I know I have sons and daughters I did not produce who will stand with me though my physical children have denied me.”
Another CRM-sponsored local church leader registered the young woman, pictured below, for CRM’s ongoing Darfur food project. The day he met her she was considering suicide. Her parents were killed by a bomb leaving her responsible for seven siblings. After her parents died, she earned money to feed her siblings by washing other people’s clothes. And she was raped by a man while at work.
The local church leader shared the gospel with her and her siblings. They received the Good News of salvation. When she received her food allotment, she said, “I now know that Christians are brothers and sisters taking care for each other, even if they are not together physically.”
God has heard your prayers and used your donations to empower a thriving Gospel movement amidst the chaos war has brought to Darfur. Over 633,000 people have received a first-time gospel witness since January 2024. Fourteen new churches and 172 Bible study points have been opened.
Because of your generosity, early in their experience of following Jesus, thousands of new Sudanese believers are learning that followers of Jesus are like one big family. And for traumatized people, whether young or old, this knowledge brings hope.
Prayer Requests
- CRM funded the purchase and transport of a new shipment of 5,000 Bibles to Darfur. But intense fighting prevents delivery to their ultimate destinations. Pray the fighting stops and that angels will protect the local church leaders during the distribution process.
- The printer used by Bibles for Africa, the South African ministry committed to providing 50,000 New Testaments for Darfur, must be replaced. Bibles for Africa requests us to join them in praying for God’s miraculous provision of a new one.
- Pray that the upcoming distribution of a shelter tarp and two blankets to each of 178 displaced families will go smoothly.
- Pray that our Lord will guide and protect everyone involved with the ongoing food aid project.
