And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto death. ~ Revelation 12:11 (KJV)
Until the Lord Jesus returns along with His holy angels, the saints on earth will overcome the devil and his angels by these means.
They are willing to risk it all for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In March, because you, the CRM family, prayed, and gave generously, approximately 50 Sudanese believers who wanted to sharpen their personal testimonies through Bible-based training were successfully given that opportunity in Wau, South Sudan. However, six people (men and women) who tried to reach the CRM-sponsored training event were seized, detained, and abused for ten days by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) at the Sudan border. One man, Mahmoud, is still being held.
But this isn’t the only story of courage. Despite the risks, a young married couple traveled to the training event with their only child, an 18-month-old boy. (That’s him in the box impersonating Moses). “They loved not their lives unto death.” People of such hunger for the truth found in God’s Word who are willing to risk it all are worthy of our upmost respect and support.
Testimonies from attendees are being received and compiled. The one highlighted here was written by a young believer who lives in a Sudanese refugee camp. He is of the Zaghawa tribe, a large people group who live in Sudan and Chad.
“Pastor, when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior back in 2024, my faith disconnected me from my people. I began staying with Christians in the church. I was happy that I was saved and my life was made secure. But this week’s teaching has taken me out of my comfort zone by setting a fire in me. Now I am ready to go back to my community even if they don’t like me. I understand that they need God’s words and I must go to them even if it means I will die.”
Call to Action
Here in the United States, we have it easy. Our homes and lives are comfortable. We don’t live in refugee camps in the middle of the desert without food, water, and shelter. No one will detain or abuse us for sport simply because they can. Our brothers and sisters in Sudan, however, face death and hardships daily that we could never dream of. They are willing to risk it all for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They deserve our utmost respect and support. At the very least, we should:
- Pray for Mahmud’s release.
- Pray that Mahmud will share Jesus with his persecutors and other prisoners.
- Pray for the effective distribution of cooking utensils and jerry cans (utilitarian water containers) to 2,000 displaced families living in Tawila, Sudan, that will begin shortly.
- Continue to give generously, so CRM may continue to train and support evangelists and believers in East Africa.
