James 4:14 – “…What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.”
Galatians 6:10 – So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
James 4:14 reminds us that life, in the light of eternity, is short; like a morning fog that quickly burns off. In Galatians, Paul encourages believers to seize every possible opportunity to help those in the household of faith. This means that each believer must recognize they will receive a limited number of opportunities to invest in significant Kingdom work during their lifetime—and respond accordingly.
Food for the Body, Food for the Soul
Recently, CRM’s team in Darfur submitted a project proposal that will greatly benefit the displaced and suffering believers in the Jebel Marra region. The proposal, entitled “Seeds of Hope and Spirit,” is an emergency agricultural relief program that will provide 1,000 families with nine types of seed—including onions, potatoes, okra, tomatoes, cowpeas, and peanuts. The goals of the project are to feed starving people and move them towards self-reliance, create a community “seed bank” for the future, show the love of Christ to non-Christians by sharing seeds with them, and, most importantly, evangelize the lost.
The cost of the project is $50,000. CRM has secured a donor that is willing to contribute $25,000 to the project. This presents you, our prayer supporters and donors, with a significant opportunity to match this contribution and help Darfurian believers move from dependence on outside relief to self-reliance. The project also will provide the growing Sudanese Christian community with an outstanding way to show the love of Christ.
On the CRM online giving page, there is an option to donate to this project. Although there’s a suggested amount, you may certainly give more, or less. Alternatively, if you want to mail us a check, please write “Seeds of Hope and Spirit” on the memo line. By way of example, a $50 donation will purchase 100 pounds of seed for one family. CRM will apply your donations to this project until it is fully funded.
“Fill the Truck” Update
On another subject, we know you are waiting to hear about the safe arrival of the 10,000 Arabic Bibles. Various challenges have made the journey tougher, but the lorry should this week make the final leg of its journey.
We will inform you as soon as we receive word that the Bibles are being delivered into the hands of the people of Darfur who desperately await their opportunity to read and study God’s Word for themselves. We believe these Bibles will result in tens of thousands of Sudanese Muslims hearing and receiving the gospel.
