Proverbs 24:11–12 (ESV) Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, ‘Behold, we did not know this,’ does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it and will he not repay man according to his work?

CRM provides a voice for those who lack the means to inform the world in general, and specifically the Christian world, of the “fiery trials” they are experiencing. This is especially true of displaced Sudanese Christians suffering unimaginable wartime atrocities.

Noura and Family

Within the past week, we have received several desperate messages from believers forced to flee the Zamzam refugee camp in North Darfur State for places not under attack. Their reports make clear that they are “being taken away to death… stumbling to the slaughter.”

Noura wrote that she and her family fled the Zamzam camp for safety in Jebel Marra. She traveled with thirteen families. They began their journey transporting the sick and elderly on donkeys. But the donkeys and their food and water were stolen by robbers. They tried carrying the elderly on their backs but did not have the stamina to carry them all the way. Many elderly and the youngest among them died. When they reached Jebel Marra, Christians fed them from food recently provided by CRM.

Ikram also fled the Zamzam camp. Before leaving, the Holy Spirit warned him not to join others seeking refuge from the bombing in a cave.

When he warned them to leave the cave, they scorned him. Only his younger sister believed him and left the cave. Afterwards, a bomb fell on the cave and killed everyone. The Holy Spirit assured Ikram of the Lord’s continued protection.

During the arduous journey to safety, Ikram’s sister died. At each passing kilometer, he either passed corpses, or someone in their group died. Upon reaching his relatives, Ikram was given food recently provided by CRM. Ikram said, “as I traveled, I kept wondering how it is that we live in a world of over seven billion people and yet no one pays attention to Darfur?”

Ikram asks a good question. We need your prayers and financial support more than ever. Please donate today, so CRM may continue to share God’s Word, provide life-saving resources to people like Noura and Ikram, and in doing so, answer Ikram’s question.
