II Corinthians 9:13 says “By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them, and for all others …”
The CRM Board members express their heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to “fill the truck.” It’s now fully loaded with 10,000 Sudanese Arabic Bibles that will be transported from Juba, South Sudan to Darfur. As Paul wrote to the Christians in Corinth almost two thousand years ago, we know that the believers and seekers in Darfur who receive the Bibles will “glorify God because of your submission to and confession of the gospel of Christ.”
The truck will leave Juba for Darfur in the next few days. We will let you know when it arrives and the Bible distribution process begins.
In the meantime, this week, CRM received the following testimony that further underscores why we made every effort to “fill the truck.”
Hamdoun is a young believer who lives in a section of the Jebel Marra mountains in central Darfur that has remained largely unaffected by the fighting. He and a group of friends from his village recently traveled to one of the beautiful lakes nearby. While there, one of his friends, on several occasions, went off by himself to read his Bible and pray.
Hamdoun noticed him slipping off and asked his friend, “what is the secret you are hiding from us?” The friend replied without hesitation, “The secret of the Kingdom of Heaven is the living, hidden relationship of love between God and man. It is the embodiment of divine love in human life, transforming our thinking and behavior so we can live out heavenly values while still here on earth—and it is available to anyone who seeks it with a sincere and humble heart.”
This caught the attention of Hamdoun and the others; there were about 27 young men in total. Another asked the friend, “So, how do we seek it?” He said, “I have a Bible, and it answers all your questions in detail.”
Everyone began to ask, “Where can we find a book like this?” He answered, “This is the only book that the Sudanese government has banned for many years. The punishment for distributing this book used to be up to nine years in prison, or even execution. But I will share my Bible with you on the condition that every Wednesday and Thursday we gather together to talk about this great secret.”
Everyone agreed, and we began meeting regularly for the teachings. On the first day, 13 of us accepted Jesus and repented of our past lives. On the second day, 17 more people accepted Christ. Hamdoun reports that many more continue to join the group. But Hamdoun further reports, “we, unfortunately, only have the one Bible. Please pray for us—that the Lord will provide Bibles for our group, and that the Holy Spirit will continue to work within us so that we may live for Christ.”
And that, my friends, is why we “filled the truck.” By the grace of God, an avenue has been opened to deliver to Hamdoun, his friends, and thousands of other Darfurians the very book that the devil and the Sudanese government have tried to ban from Darfur for years.
