Sudan—Overlooked by the World but Not by God
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? ROMANS 8:31-32
Given the suffering brought to many Americans by Hurricane Helene, and the prospect of more to come from Hurricane Milton, the Holy Spirit’s message delivered to followers of Jesus through the pen of the Apostle Paul in Romans 8 is especially comforting. “In all things, we are more than conquerors.”
God’s people are responding in droves to aid those in the southeastern U.S. who have been affected. Through their labor and verbal sharing of the gospel, God will bring glory to Himself. Thank you, Lord Jesus, that because of your cross, resurrection, and ceaseless intercession, your people can see through the pain of the moment to that which is eternal!
Sudan’s civil war has now entered its nineteenth month. As you, our CRM family, have prayed and given to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, we have collectively seen how our God caused beauty to spring forth from ashes.
This week, our Darfurian partners sent a year-to-date report of how the Lord has worked through them in their circumstances. Since January 1, 2024, they conservatively estimate that they have shared a first-time gospel witness with over 620,000 people. Out of that number, 4,837 people accepted the Lord Jesus as their savior. Eleven new churches have been started. Beauty from literal ashes.
These new Christians are the result of ceaseless and bold personal witnessing in a dark and dangerous place in the world. Our Darfurian partners have been good stewards of the Bibles, Story Cloths, and digital ministry resources that you, our CRM family, have provided them since January 1. In their report, they repeatedly mention the key role your gifts have played in empowering them and their communities for Christ.
The man in the middle of the picture was the Imam (Muslim spiritual leader) of his village. One of his sons was saved and became an effective witness. The Imam was warned by other village leaders to bring his son back to Islam. When the Imam confronted his son and his son’s pastor, instead of beginning an argument, he requested them to read the Bible to him, so that he could better understand its message. The now former Imam ultimately received Jesus, and subsequently shared the gospel message with his entire village. This is happening all over Darfur.
Prayer Requests
- Five thousand Bibles are on their way to Darfur. Pray for their safe arrival and distribution.
- Another large-scale food distribution project will begin this week in Darfur. The goal is to feed 324 families for 3 months.
A gospel movement is emerging out of great suffering. Only a loving, sovereign God could do this. He makes us more than conquerors. Thank you for supporting CRM and being a conqueror.
